The clock is ticking. As we approach the end of the year, the 2025 California Building Code (CBC) and International Building Code (IBC) updates will soon take effect.

Submitting your plans before December 31, 2025 ensures your project will be reviewed under the current codes, avoiding delays and unexpected adjustments. Don’t wait—secure your approvals now and stay ahead of the curve.

PROJECT COSTS ARE GOING UP!

Fire Safety - Increased separation, expanded non-combustible cladding/sheathing requirements, and tighter fire-testing standards for composite materials and finishes.

Structural Load Updates - References have been updated to ASCE 7-22, meaning new load calculation standards for wind, seismic, snow, and flood

EV Infrastructure - 100% EV-ready receptacles for multifamily assigned parking, updated for commercial.

Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Code - California has repealed Chapter 7A and adopted a new WUI code, aligned with the ICC’s developments and incorporating California-specific amendments. This strengthens wildfire resilience in at-risk areas.

CalGreen and Sustainable Building Emphasis - California’s ongoing push for sustainability is reflected in heightened requirements for energy efficiency, green materials, and environmental quality under the CalGreen Code (Part 11).
